    Description

This Haiti 1,000 Gourde commemorative banknote from 2009 was released to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of Port-au-Prince (1749-1999). The banknote's front design depicts a portrait of Haitis 16th President Florvil Hyppolite, a holographic starburst, a sailing ship, and a crowned Coat of Arms of Port-au-Prince. The reverse side features buildings, trucks, and shoppers at Marche Valliere market in Port-au-Prince. The note is 151 x 70 mm in size and contains a windowed security thread with demetalized 1000 Gourde to enhance its security features. Placing the note under a UV light would reflect a watermark image of Florvil Hyppolite and cornerstone.
